Bulding Blocks to a good general safety attitude

OSHA Inspections: Preparation and Response by Rick Kaletsky page 40

"To begin with, the formation of a good general safety attitude requires a firm commitment to the construction and maintenance of five major building blocks:

1. focusing and concentrating on the tasks to be conducted;

2. taking the time to do the job correctly;

3. demonstrating the mental strength to do things in a safe way, despite pressures imposed by others;

4. taking responsibility -thinking of yourself as part of a team and acting to correct an unsafe situation -even when that situation is not a direct part of your job;

5. avoiding placing yourself and others at risk.
